Amazing Sculptures of jamiesalmon and Ron Mueck

salmon_07 So, you are wondering what is so special about this man’s face? It is a hyperrealist sculpture by Jamie Salmon, who uses materials such as silicone rubber, fibre glass, acrylic and human hair. Incredible detail!

Notes from the artist (from bio):

I like to use the human form as a way of exploring the nature of what we consider to be “real” and how we react when our visual perceptions of this reality are challenged. In our modern society we have become obsessed with our outward appearance, and now with modern technology we are able to alter this in almost anyway we desire. How does this outward change affect us and how we are perceived by others?

The Hyperrealist Sculptures of Ron Mueck

I’m a fan of hyperrealist artwork, and I was unfamiliar with Ron Mueck’s sculptures. These are amazing!

Notes about the artist (via Wikipedia):

Mueck’s early career was as a model maker and puppeteer for children’s television and films, notably the film Labyrinth for which he also contributed the voice of Ludo, and the Jim Henson series The Storyteller.
(…)Mueck’s sculptures faithfully reproduce the minute detail of the human body, but play with scale to produce disconcertingly jarring visual images
