Impressive Art made with Tape!

ward_10
Using duct, electrical, and vinyl tape, Rebecca Ward symmetrically aligns each color line. It is impressive!

Notes from the artist’s statement:

My installations are site-specific works dependent upon the space they occupy. Utilizing existing lines, beams, and angles, each piece I create is informed by the individual site and its unique linear movement. Thus, my installations are inherently architectural. I choose patterns and shapes according to detailed measurements of the installation site. Ideally these patterns are numerically symmetrical or somehow numerically balanced, producing a dialogue between line and space. I initially began working with tape because of the broad range of colors in which it is available. Additionally, I have always been drawn to its unique textural qualities.

Chinese artist Li Wei’s Optical Illusions

Chinese artist Li Weis Optical IllusionsI really have no idea how Li Wei managed to capture these photos of himself. The closest thing that comes to my mind is Johan Lorbeer.Dangling horizontally out of a skyscraper, his hovering figure looks set to fall to his doom, but this artist ‘jumper’ hasn’t just lost it all on a game of chance – this is performance art with a difference. Li Wei has previously produced series of self-portraits involving faces reflected in mirrors, and photographs of himself crashing into walls and sidewalks. His current work is a mixture of performance art and photography that creates illusions of a sometimes dangerous reality. I would really love if we could brainstorm on this “installation“, and maybe come to a decent conclusion.

Caricatures of TV Characters That Are Pure Awesomeness

A caricature can refer to a portrait that exaggerates or distorts the essence of a person or thing to create an easily identifiable visual likeness. In literature, a caricature is a description of a person using exaggeration of some characteristics and oversimplification of others.
Caricatures can be insulting or complimentary and can serve a political purpose or be drawn solely for entertainment. Caricatures of politicians are commonly used in editorial cartoons, while caricatures of movie stars are often found in entertainment magazines.

10 Ugly Rivers of the World

14river01-600God created all things big small and the wonderful Mother Nature has bestowed man with bounty of beautiful and magnificent creations. Snow covered mountain tops glittering as the sun rays touch the tiny crystals, the falling rivers that boldly part even the hardest rocks, the vast grasslands and tall trees swishing as the passing breeze whispers quietly , and so on,  God created a perfect harmonic balance between the plants, animals, man and their surroundings But man’s quest to transform the world acc to his needs and preferences, have broken all laws of nature and the world stands at the juncture of self destruction and transience.

the right moment to photograph

It isn't enough to choose the best angle from which to take a photograph, it's also essential to know how to capture a precise moment. In that, Cartier-Bresson had a point. And, even though, at times, the photographer is extremely lucky and all he has to do is press a button to capture an unrepeatable occurence, most often, the patience and the preparation to obtain a photo of a given predictable moment are due to the photographer's own personal achievement. And so, nearly surreal images are created..

5 Weird Weapons Of World War II – The Allies

anti tank dogs
Between 1939 and 1945, one of the worst wars in history was fought out between two opposing forces that were so large and wide-spread, it became known as the Second World War. In a bid to stop Adolf Hitler and his allies, who were known as the ‘Axis’ powers, the ‘Allies’ worked on many weapons projects to try to develop new ways to help them win the war. While many were successful and eventually helped the allied cause, other ideas that went into development ended up being shelved, often because they were just a little too weird to work!
